Big Hearts

It's the 2nd of December, a mild, overcast Monday evening. And there is lots of noise, blaring Christmas music from cars, police sirens leading, kids running down the street yelling 'food bank, food bank!' People come out of their houses onto the street smiling, holding tins of spaghetti, toothbrushes, chips and creamed corn. Bags of food sit by some letterboxes, and the kids come running along collecting it all and putting it on the back of a truck.
There's one little girl holding so much food, it's weighing her down.
There is smiles and singing and hope for full belly Christmases for everyone. Food for those that don't have as much. So that everyone can have full tummies and the hope for full hearts.
I can see that there is good, maybe enough good to outweigh the bad. Sometimes watching the news it's sad, but tonight there were so many smiles, smiles that will be spread to those who maybe are lacking one or two. And tonight I go to bed with a full heart, knowing that people will soon have full bellies.
