Exciting news!

I received an email about two weeks ago... when I opened it I couldn't read it fast enough, then I read it over and over trying to let it sink in.

Then I ran round and round the house telling my sister then I rang my mum at work, then I rang Grandma, Grampa and Grandad, then I told dad when he got home. Then I messaged a couple of my close friends. My excitement was bubbling over!

I had entered this competition a few months beforehand, and the winner had been announced about a week before I received this email. And I had all but forgotten about the competition.

This email was from the editor of the New Zealand Sunday Star Times (a national newspaper on Sundays). It said I had got second place in the Sunday Star Times Short Story Awards with my story 'Her Seat', about a girl on a bus.

That's all for now, but hopefully (they said if they had room) it might be published in the Newspaper one Sunday in January.
