I play a lot of hockey and I love it!!
But it's the off-season at the moment and that has me kinda down. I mean, I do still do heaps of hockey in summer but it's more by myself or with parts of the team. I love winter hockey. I miss when we train in the cold early hours of the morning before school. I miss the multitude of games we squeeze in each week. I miss playing late into the night, arriving at the turf wrapped up in thermals, polar fleeces, jackets, blankets and hugging a hot water bottle. I even miss the hail, pelting down, hands numb and the hail blanketing the turf like a layer of snow. It's what makes me love it even more! But I don't really miss the fitness testing hehe. I miss the hours spent in mini vans travelling to other schools to play, then driving back in the same day and everyone is fast asleep. The beats are blasted on the way there, but it is dead silent on the way back. But mostly I miss the people, our funny little unconventional family that supports each other through thick and thin. I miss our team bonding weekends, just having a wild time away from hockey doing some crazy challenges. And I miss pretty much living at the turf or in a minivan together for the duration of winter and as we ramp up for the pinnacle event... Fed Cup!! The ultimate tournament week away where we have an absolute blast and play our best hockey of the year! Bring on 2019!!
