perfectly pink skies

i’m looking at

through rose tinted glasses

perfectly pink skies

fade fade fade

to gray

to dark gray to

black

perfectly pink skies

are no longer.

black skies

pour down hard

rain on pink evenings

i turn up the tv

the tin roof rattles

the beach day

now a gumboot day

rain on pink evenings

on the second day of summer

on the second day of december

rain on pink evenings

lasts until the

perfectly pink skies

are no longer.

it’s dark

and the rain leaves

as fast as it came

it’s dark

the pink skies gone again

until tomorrow night

it's dark

so eerily dark

cloud cover above

perfectly pink skies

always come back again

rain on pink evenings

always disappears

it’s dark

darkness passes

perfectly pink skies return
