Plot Pursuit

Plonked down in my seat, staring out the window longingly, hoping one will come swooping down out of the sky and hit me in the face. Wham! There you have it, a plot! If only… I would be able to get my pen to paper and start writing. But it’s not as easy as that… or so I thought.
Here my search begins. Stepping outside, all bundled up four coats thick I’m greeted with a cold rush of wind in my face. Gumboots reach up to my knees, keeping my legs dry from the lake that is our lawn. I wade over to the vege garden with my spade slung carelessly over my shoulder. Peering carefully into the garden, the lettuces seem the most promising place to find a plot. Looking between each leaf to make sure I don’t miss any good ones the wind keeps blowing cold and strong. No luck. So grabbing my spade I eagerly go to try and dig up some plotatoes. But still no standouts, none that will leap out, none that will keep your eyes glued to this page. In the end I unwillingly take a couple of the better ones inside, being extra careful not to wipe off the climax. I place them on my desk and sit down to try and make something out of nothing. My pen would get close to the paper and I would pull away. Nothing good to write. The plotatoes stare at me, mocking me, teasing me. Those plotatoes are duds.
Finding a plot is harder than I initially thought. Grasping at straws with the plotatoes hopefully the next day’s trip down the road to the orchard would prove more fruitful.
Yay, a sunny day! It was looking promising. Basket in hand I set off down the rows of trees with a confidence that far exceeded my ability. Some say plots don’t grow on trees but I beg to differ. I’ve heard whisperings that this is the season for plots, there’s sad plots, pear plots, mad plots and rare plots. But I go for the big juicy ones at the top. Ones you can’t put down when you start, ones that leave you wanting more. There were only a couple of good ones, but none that I thought were good enough.
I’ve had enough of searching and it coming to nothing, I’ll head overseas to Plotugal and see what I find.
